Do you have some Audio CDs that you want to convert to MPC files so you can listen to them on your phone? Maybe you can only get your favorite song or lecture in Audio CD format. Fortunately for you, we’ve put together a simple guide for converting Audio CDs into MPC. With CDA to MPC Converter, you can turn those .CDA files into MPCs and be on your way. CDA to MPC Converter offers you an easy and fast way to convert CDA to MPC audio with high quality. Audio CD Track or .cda file is a small (44 bytes) file generated by Microsoft Windows for each track on an audio CD (it is a virtual file that can be read by Windows software, but is not actually present on the CD audio media). The file contains indexing information that programs can use to play or rip the disc. The file is given a name in the format Track##.cda. The .cda files do not contain the actual PCM wave data, but instead tell where on the disc the track starts and stops. If the file is "copied" from the CD-ROM to the computer, it becomes useless, since it is only a shortcut to part of the disc. People often search for "cda to mpc converter online" or "how to convert cda to mpc online" without realizing that Audio CDs are large in size and by the time you upload, convert and download the files you are better off downloading CDA to MPC converter on your PC and perform convention locally = 0 second waiting for uploading and downloading. With CDA to MPC Converter you easily rip your audio CDs to MPC, FLAC or WMA files for use with your hardware player or convert files that do not play with other audio software. You can even convert whole music libraries retaining the folder and filename structure. The CD Ripper supports the CDDB/freedb online CD database. It will automatically query song information and write it to ID3v2 or other title information tags. Have any questions regarding CDA to MPC Converter? See the below Frequently Asked Questions.

Finally, you should select the output format and audio quality. In the MPC dialog box, choose the format settings for the final MPC files. Depending on quality you need, select the bitrate of the file, sample rate and the number of channels. You will probably lose some audio content if you choose the mono option. You can choose what sample rate you want to use. 44.1 kHz (or 44100 Hz) is the sample rate used by audio CDs. Less than that and you'll start to hear the loss in quality.

Q: Do I lose sound quality when I Convert CDA files to MPC format?

A: This is a good question, but unfortunately, the short answer is YES. Since MPC is a lossy audio format, converting any audio formats (e.g. CD Audio) to MPC is a quality-loss process, the encoded MPC files sound like a faithful reproduction of the original CDA music collections to most listeners.

A: You probably load the CDA files from your hard drive. If so, The CDA file can't be copied from CD to hard drive directly. You may notice speed of the copying is very fast. The copy operation takes just 3-5 seconds only. It doesn't make sense. Generally, Audio CD contains 600-700 MB audio data. And, you will see all CDA file on your hard drive is about 44 bytes (right-click on the CDA file and choose "Properties"). That's why the software failed to convert CDA file. And no software can convert the 44 bytes CDA file to MPC. To convert CDA files to MPC, you have to choose CDA file from CD directly, and then convert them to MPC.

Q: What is CDA ?

A: Compact Disc Digital Audio. A file with the extension .cda is a small (44 byte) virtual file generated by Microsoft Windows for each audio track on a standard "Red Book" CD-DA format audio CD as defined by the Table of Contents (ToC) (within the lead-in's subcode). These files are shown in the directory for the CD being viewed in the format Track##.cda, where ## is the number of each individual track. The .cda files do not contain the actual PCM sound wave data, but instead tell where on the disc each track starts and stops. If the file is "copied" from the CD to a computer, it cannot be used on its own because it is only a shortcut to part of the disc. However, some audio editing and CD creation programs will, from the user's perspective, load .cda files as though they are actual audio data files, and allow the user to listen to them. This should not be confused with the tracks actually containing the audio data on the CD.

Q: What is MPC ?

A: MPC is an audio file format used by Musepack. Musepack or MPC is an open source lossy audio codec, specifically optimized for transparent compression of stereo audio at bitrates of 160–180 (manual set allows bitrates up to 320) kbit/s. It was formerly known as MPEGplus, MPEG+ or MP+. MPC files are compressed audio files based on MPEG-2 algorithms. MPC files do not use a constant bitrate, but have a changing bitrate that adapts to the need of a specific portion of the audio data. This allows for higher-quality audio. The psychoacoustic model of MPC is based on MPEG ISO model 2, but is extended by CVD (clear voice detection). The quantization algorithm of the MPC encoder performs spectral shaping of the noise, called adaptive noise shaping (ANS), in order to overcome the low frequency resolution of the polyphase quadrature filter bands. Musepack is mainly optimized for transparent encoding at the "--standard" preset (175-185 kbit/s). Very few optimisations have been made at lower bitrates (like 128 kbit/s). Musepack is a purely variable bitrate format and does not work at a constant bitrate. A big part of Musepack's quality comes from its highly variable bitrate handling which results in low bitrate for less demanding regions of the audio data and higher bitrate where it's needed. This allows MPC files to be as small as possible and not lose any valuable bits like encoders that work at a constant bitrate. After all, the purpose of a lossy audio encoder is to provide the highest possible quality at the lowest possible file size, and Musepack represents progress, as opposed to old, suboptimal legacy methods.
